“But Mary treasured all these things, giving careful thought to them and pondering them in her heart.”

Whenever I think about the birth of Jesus I always think about Mary. I will admit that motherhood has deepened my fascination and desire for the stories of other women, especially mothers, in the history of time. I consider the adversity she probably had to endure. The gossip and the whispers. The people who probably spoke words of death over her and her unborn son. Maybe in her surrender to what God called her to birth she also felt some doubt. Maybe parts of her kind of believed the naysayers... “But Mary treasured all these things, giving careful thought to them and pondering them in her heart”

I like to believe this was the moment something rose up within her and through the astonishment of complete strangers, reminded her what she said yes to, WHO she gave birth to AND how He would change the world.

Today I celebrate the ‘But Mary’ moments in our life. Those moments when we hear for the first time and make a pact with ourselves to treasure, think and ponder on the words of love, positivity, peace and wonder that are spoken over our life and the lives of those we love.

Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas!
